Decent unit with good sound, but too many network issues, even with wifi router within 10 feet of it. Even when the unit says I have excellent network, the streaming apps are barely reliable. Some won't connect at all and Pandora constantly tells me that the device doesn't support the audio codecs. The interface is the same as a Playstation, so fairly easy to navigate, but I'll be returning it, as the streaming was my main priority.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Do you have to use a 3d TV with this system?

No. I do not have a 3D TV and it was fine.

Can you adjust the bass volume on the sub speaker?

No, there are no knobs on the sub itself. You can only adjust the bass through the configuration interface.
