Is it a ink miser or guzzler?
My wife and I find our current printer Brother MFC 240c seems to require ink replacements more often even though we rarely use it. It's cost too much to replace the cartridge and it seems that if you replace one the others need to be replaced too, about $80 each time. Something to do with cycle and maintenance time wired into the firmware. Similar to my smart car informing me it's time for a oil change but with the printer, it will not print until you change one or all ink cartridges.
It is ok with ink. I do not think I get more than 200 pages but if you pick up ink when it is on sale for 12-15 bucks then it is a good value. If you are just printing ink then set your document to black and white. For some reason it makes the colors last longer but you should replace cartridges at minimum once a year but more like 6 months so that the heads do not clog.
