It is a great keyboard and lighting is great, the size is also ideal if you do not use the numpad, so you can keep your mouse closer and fit the keyboard into more packed keyboard areas. The key cap material is also nice, mat and slightly soft which I like. They are not super print resistant though, so if you have greasy/sweaty fingers it may actually show the mess.
On the core mechanical switch part, this is a matter of preference, if you like Razor's clicky non-linear switches, similar to Cherry MX Blue perhaps, then this is for you, otherwise, try it with other switches or go with sth else.
Also, there are two features that I do not like: 1. Volume keys and 2. A nice palm rest, similar to Corsair.
Without these, they look like any other RGB mechanical keyboard with clicky switches so not much differentiation.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Logitech Wireless Mouse Marathon M705 lets you power on... and on. It uses less power than comparable wireless mice from other companies, so you'll go up to three full years between battery changes.¹ And it uses a tiny wireless receiver that stays plugged in to your computer, so your mouse is ready to go-whenever, wherever, and for as long as it takes. Plus, hyper-fast scrolling means you'll fly through long documents to find what you need in a flash. Advanced Optical Tracking means you'll get smooth, responsive cursor control. And the sculpted, right-hand shape means you'll be as comfortable finishing up as you were getting started.

This is perhaps the best value mouse by Logitech for office work, it has the free wheel scrolling, soft touch material where needed, ergonomic shape. Windows 10 "expose" button. The page up/down buttons are not intuitively placed, but they do are not as needed anyways.
We have perhaps purchase around 10 of these mouses for home and business so far.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Battery Life

I'm not happy with the battery life of the mouse that came with my new apple computer, and wondering if anyone out there can compare the two with the battery life of this mouse, or would it be better for me to upgrade on a new keyboard and mouse combination.
I cannot compare, but I have many of these and I believe normal AA batteries last more than a year, if not more, on these with > 8 hours a day usage. Never really felt any thing wrong with these in that terms.

Is the marathon mouse compatible with windows 8

I have used it on Windows 8/8.1 and 10 and all the functions work well. You need the SetPoint software (from Logitech) to be able to config all the buttons - if you do not like the default behavior.
