Can this Drive be used for more than one computer, one with Windows 7 and another with Windows XP?
I have a Desktop with Windows XP Media Center Edition32 bit and a Laptop with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Can the same External Drive be used for backing up from both these computers?
I believe you can, but I would download the manual from the WDC website to see if it has information on that. I have not personally done that though.

Can it be used Dish backup??
Can I used this as a backup for recording from dish.
I am not sure. Most of the content has copyright protection. You would probably have to contact your dish provider to get more information

can it be used as a dvr expander for a Scientific American 8300 ?
If you are talking like hooking it up to a DVR, the best thing to do is call your cable provider. A lot of cable boxes have that portion disabled.

is it 7200 rpm or 5400
