Although this device worked perfectly fine, it is just entirely too outdated. The Bluetooth speakers have come a long way since this device came out years ago. I would say the best description is this one sounds like an am radio as compared to the new ones sounding like CDs. It is just too quite and has no body to the volume. I don't recommend this to anyone that wants any kind of music listening. Maybe if you just listened to talk shows or something.

Is the new $169 model third generation?

Yes it is. I got one now that they finally had an affordable option. I see no difference in features or usability from the $250 model. Just the softened display which is better in my opinion.

Will this thermostat work with Alexa?

Yes it will. I use it with my echo dot currently.

I am thinking of getting the Nest - Thermostat E When I am away from home in the summer, I do not want to turn the AC off but want it to keep the temp at 78 degrees to keep humidity down and wood floors from swelling. Can I do that - ie hold at 78?

Yes you can do that. It lets you set the “away” mode to whatever temp you want. You can set it for 78 and as long as you are away, it will maintain that temp.
