This thing it's amazing, i give this to my dad with a netflix account and he can stream from his smartphone without problems, the last holidays we played justdance and went to youtube to watch some funny videos.
I would recommend this to a friend!

With Chromecast can I stream movies and tv shows from my Kindle Fire tablet to my tv?

If your kindle fire web browser supports it yes, apps like Youtube, Google Chrome Browser have that option. It's an APP COMPATIBLE DEVICE, so you can stream to chrome cast from iPad, iPhone, Android Phone, Macbook, Windows :D
