When I installed a new TN 450 in my copier, the message, "replace toner" will not clear from the machine? What did I do wrong?

I've had no problem installing the TN450 in my HL-2240 printer. The installation instructions say to have the printer ON when installing the toner unit and, after closing the front cover, wait for the "Ready" LED to come on before doing anything else. I hope this helps.
