Immediately recognized by my Mac. Only issue is that you need to snap the transformer plug into the socket; if it's not completely plugged into the outlet it won't be recognized. other than that- quiet, doesn't get hot, great for time machine back-up

I have an older Mac pro laptop with 2.0 usb port connection

Will a 2.0 port work with a 3.0 USB cord, do I have to get a new port or is there an adaptor,
