can I plug the white, red and yellow connectors from the video and dvd player?

the TV has 2 HDMI inputs, 1 USB, 1 CATV, and 1 5-color RCA-type input. there is no 3-color (red, white, yellow) input

just connect VIOS to the TV using an HDMI cable

It says audio output jacks - exactly what? Digital? Audio? RCA? Headphone? What?

Movies through USB?

Can you watch movies through the USB on this tv? On our lg we can, and on our insignia we can't, even though it does have a USB plug in. It's only to view photos apparently.

there is 1 USB connection on the right side of the TV

What kind of base

Does this have a pedestal base - as pictured here - and does it swivel? My 4 year old 37 inch LCD Samsung has the same looking stand. Swivel is not a big deal but it needs to be a pedestal base, not the new style with two feet at opposite ends of the screen.

TV comes with a fixed pedestal base or connections on back for a wall mount (not included)

yes. using remote, press menu, select plug&play, time, sleep timer, the select "off" or one of time options listed in # of minutes

is this tv hd ready or does it require a hdmi cable and hd box

it is HDMI ready. you do not need a separate HDMI box, but you do need an HDMI cable.

Can I hook up a Play Station 2 using the old yellow, white, and red cables?

I have an old Play Station 2 that hasn't seen a lot of use. I would like to hook it up to this tv. Can I hook it up the same way I did before I had a flat screen?
