Tried the bargain brand ink replacements and had nothing but problems. If you are smart, you can use coupons or wait until there's a sale to stock up on original HP ink.

I researched NAS devices and WD had good ratings. Setup was (supposed) to be easy. I shopped around and picked this up in June. I waited until I read the manual and watched many youtube videos on how to make this a 'no sweat' effort and generally it was.
I had a number of error messages that I eventually resolved. Upon setup completion I was prompted to do a firmware upgrade which seemed to take a long time. Somewhere in the process it was requiring me to buy a subscription to drop box (everything I researched indicated that this was not a requirement). I skipped that and will come back to that later (when I understand automatic backup better).
On the 'main PC' that was hardwired to the router, I could see the new drive and did a test moving of a file. Success. I went to another device (mobile) and downloaded the Android app and accessed the file successfully. I set up an automatic photo backup from the phone and when I connected to the in-house wifi, it began downloading.
I'm still having problems accessing files from the web. I use Firefox but I get an error. I switched to Internet Explorer and after a Java Update I was able to access the files. I had various error messages, but I attribute this to the in-house network being overworked due to many files being copied.
I began offloading files from another (expensive) cloud service and that has taken most of the day. However, it looks like things are going OK.
I recommend his unit, but want those that do choose this to know that you'll need to dedicate time to getting things running smooth.

a HDTV and PC monitor on the cheap

Purchased primarily to use as a PC monitor. The 28 in HDTV had enough HDMI and USB inputs to use as my PC's monitor and double as a 'TV' for my Roku HDMI streamer. Easily toggle from one HDMI to another and USB port works perfect to power the Roku. So in between working/surfing, I can watch streaming channels from the comfort of my comfy task chair. Great price too!

PC to MAC conversion
I currently have a PC laptop that is on the fritz and needs to be backed up. I am looking to eventually invest in a MacBook. Will I be able to access the stored data from both platforms?
Once you download the UI for Mac, you can access the files on the WD.

Does this TV work with WiFi?
This is not a SMART TV, so there is no WiFi.
