Paid less than $30 for this product. The remote is simple to use and the device itself is small enough to sit on top of my flat screen TV and be unobtrusive. I have mostly been watching the cheaper SD services so far, but I have also watched a few free HD programs and the quality of the streaming video is good.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Have been using Seagate drives for more than 10 years in my computers and have only had one fail (after many years of daily use). This 3 GB drive holds many full resolution HD videos & still has room to grow. It's also nice that I don't have to archive my drives as often like I have had to do with many 1 TB drives.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Is this always powered on or can you turn it on\off with the remote?

There is no on/off switch. The device senses when the TV is on and starts functioning when you press the Home button.
It also senses when the TV is turned off and shuts down automatically very soon after it knows the TV is off.

I have an older time capsule - looks a bit like a large Mac Mini - with a 2 TB drive that I feel is having trouble. Does anyone know if this will work as a replacement drive?

This is an internal drive designed to be mounted inside your computer or in an external drive case.
It is not a direct replacement for an external Time Machine rated drive.

Is this drive a Barracuda drive? What is the warranty on this drive? Thanks!

Yes it is a Barracuda drive. The Seagate drive warranty is 2 years now, it used to be 5 years.
