I needed a new external hard drive to use solely for Time Machine with my iMac. Since I have been very happy with other My Passport hard drives, I opted for this one. It's sleek, and serves its purpose extremely well. It's also easy to pack away and take on the road. For the price, you can not beat this product.

1 1/2 questions: Can I store data from a PC as well on the Mac external drive? Does this come with its own storage pouch??

I have a MacBook Pro and will use the WD 1TB to store files. I also want to know if I can store files from a PC.
I want to know if this comes with its own pouch.

Best Answer

There will not be a pouch in the contents of the box. The cases are usually nearby at Best Buy, and aren't that expensive. If you are going to be fairly mobile, you'll want a case to just throw the hard drive in your back pack.

You can use the hard drive with a PC as well, but it requires a few minutes with disk utility to reformat the hard drive. You can choose a format that works for both, or, and I recommend this, you can partition the hard drive and format each partition for the operating system you choose. Your Mac of course will be able to see both. The PC will only see the partition that is formatted for PCs. I did this before naming the Mac side the "Good side" and the PC side the "Bad Side" kind of referencing the Force from Star Wars.
