Would this work in my Dell Inspiron 570 along with the hard drive that came with my Dell

The answer is a qualified yes. In addition to the drive you would need a power adapter (cable) to convert the molex power connector to SATA as well as a SATA data cable, which may or may not be included. This drive should be backward compatible to work with the older 3 GB transfer rate ok.

Compatible with IMAC Model A1311 [late 2009 model] 21.5"

Can I use this hard drive to replace the original hard drive. Apple support was of no help and could not / would not supply me with a list of compatible drives.

While I have not done it with this model.... I would. The spec says 500 GB 7200 rpm SATA, 1 TB and 2 TB will work. This drive is capable of faster transfer, but should work without issues.

can I put this in my hp desktop pc?

Yes, As long as the PC uses SATA drives. It will work with all operating systems.
