I do really love the flexibility of the joycons (use on console in portable mode, use in grip like a "full" controller, use individually in some games that support that). That said, as a man with meaty hands, they are not very comfortable to use over time. The sticks feel really loose in shooters like Splatoon or TPA like Zelda and for me and the buttons are small and hurt to press in games like Mario Kart where the A button is the accelerator (and thus pressed for 99% of racing). I mean you do really need these to get the most of the Switch and the flexibility is great but whenever I'm at home, I grab the pro controller instead (except in games like Arms where you use the joycons to punch while in each hand). So, it's a good idea to get a 2nd set of joycons for games like arms or party games with users that don't really know how to use a gamepad.

So, bought this for my son and he's put about 30 hours into it in 3 weeks of which, I've watched probably 10-15. It's his fav game on the Switch but he's never really played a WRPG game (action rpg or otherwise) so while it's a good recommendation, I don't think it's the be all end all of open world/action RPG games. I've played around 6 hours myself and I just don't like the weapon degradation system (if a weapon degrades, I should be able to repair it with a like weapon). The guardian enemies and several bosses are beyond annoying with 1 hit kill ability but more hearts/better armor may fix some of that. The exploration and shrines are fine but they seem to be a bit on the easy side (i.e. easier than TR tombs or AssCreed puzzle rooms so far but they may amp up a bit). I like all of the concepts and they seem to come together enough for a cohesive game experience but overall just feel a bit "meh" about it....possibly because I've been playing open world RPGs for several years (Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Witcher 3, etc.). I might change my tune after playing a bit more. So far it's very good, don't get me wrong and I find it much better than the Wind Waker (the only other Zelda game I've played recently).

So, MK8 Deluxe is basically a rehash of MK8 on the WiiU. However, all of the Grand Prix events are unlocked from the jump and while this may disappoint some, for folks that played the WiiU version to death, it was more than welcome. You still have to unlock car parts/accessories,etc. While I'm not a fan of the Switch/joycons (I generally play with the Pro controller), this version seems to have the best "feel" (for lack of a better term) of any MK game and also the best graphics. Controls are tight and perfect. So, if you are an MK lover, it's just a must if you've kicked your WiiU to the curb (like I did). If you just want a great 4 player party game to talk smack with your buds/fam, it's also one of the best.

Bought this to show a video/slideshow that was created on an iPad. The video quality of output was generally good. My only complaint was that the slideshow pictures showed fine on ipad but some were cutoff at the top on the display. I believe this due to the iPad being in 16:10 and the display in 16:9. The adapter should scale to the aspect of the display but didn't. Overall decent product just had some quirks.

I have a Samsung 8500 tv, Sony HTC 790 surround sound and Xbox One. Will this work with all three devices? I also have some Apple Home Kit devices, Philips Hue and iHome outlet, can it control those as well?
LOL...I just answered this almost exactly regarding Samsung, soundbar and Xbox One....yes, works great with those. I did have to custom map many of the Xbox One buttons to the remote (it picked the TV as the default control for all of the main buttons by default), but the phone app makes that fairly easy though it can be a tedious process. Not sure on the Apple Home Kit or the Philips Hue as I don't have any other smarthome devices at the moment. If you have a Best Buy near you, I'd say buy it and try it out. Can always return it if it doesn't work for your needs. So far, I'm happy for what I'm using it for (the aforementioned setup and integrating with Amazon Echo).

Will this work with an optimum box aka cable vision
Yes, this should work with the majority if not all cable boxes. While I can't say for 100% certainty, I would be very surprised if it did not work with yours. It picked up my Samsung TV, Klipsch soundbar, and Xbox One without any problem at all. As with any universal remote system, you may have to custom map some buttons but that is fairly easy using the phone app.

does this work with tivo
Hi Debra. While I no longer have a Tivo (just got rid of it in favor of Hulu Live TV), I just tested adding a Tivo Bolt and it recognized the device by name and started the process for setting it up. So, I'd say "yes". This remote system is probably overkill for most to be honest but it is easy to use and gets you integration with Amazon Echo which is nice. The other advantage is that you can use your smartphone as the actual remote if you misplace the included remote. You may have to custom map some buttons you use on the Tivo remote to this, however....but that is relatively easy using the phone app.
