Unfortunately these boxes have to support heavy washers and dryers, and the feet on different brands are not precisely the same, making the purchase of a branded pedestal a luxury proposition when it should be a fraction of the price. If you need the pedestals, which help a lot if bending over is difficult, then you have to pay up for them, even though they contain nothing but a box and a drawer! They all cost about the same and I am not aware of any aftermarket alternatives.

I can't rate the installers well because they did not properly level the washer on the first visit, and only did so on the second visit when pushed to do so by my wife (unfortunately I was out of the country at the time.)
Levelling these washers and pedestals is absolutely essential since the modern front loaders stop and start many times during the cycle, making for a lot of noise when they are not properly levelled.

While I was out of the country, my wife had to get the installers to come back because they didn't install it absolutely level. A level needs to show it is level both front to back and side to side. Why? Because the spinning bucket stops and starts. Every time it stops and starts, this makes noise and puts torsion on the machine. If it is not absolutely level, this will make much louder noises and shake the floor much more. The key to a (relatively, not absolutely) quiet machine is that absolute balance. Also, if when you stomp on the floor near where your machine is or will be, if the floor shakes, you are going to get more noise. This is especially worth checking in houses where the washer is away from supporting walls and not installed on a slab. Today it is not uncommon for washers to be installed upstairs or even next to a bedroom for convenience. Of course, stacked washer and dryer pairs are heavier, but unless they're both stopping and starting at once, this also means more counter weight and perhaps less shake--if they're ABSOLUTELY LEVEL.
So I've said my piece, and unfortunately, perhaps because the space was small (and of course the washer heavy) making levelling a challenge, the installers were not vigilant until really pressed, even on the callback visit.

I don't really know what I can add to the numerous reviews. I got two because--what do you know--my first generation chromecast died. When a computer the size of your thumb dies, there is not much fixing. So I got the two-fer deal and put one at my parents'.
[Excuse my over the top title, couldn't resist the rhyme.] We do use it daily. I watch nightly business report from youtube whenever I'm ready, and we watch shows available from sites like cbs, pbs, abc... using their apps and cast them to the TV. My son casts DOTA commentaries and occasional movies. It does not work well with Amazon because...Amazon doesn't want it to! Netflix is fine, etc. We don't really use it for music. We have used it for VIMEO also....

So you found yourself with a person on your Christmas list that wants an actual physical drive, preferably external, even though the sky is partly cloudy. What to do?
I bought this 2T Seagate which is essentially what any OEM would put in a PC or laptop if they were putting big drives in computers. And if you like DIY entertainment there's a good chance you could actually hang it off a router as a network storage appliance. (I'm using the "hang" metaphorically, you would need a router with a usb port that supports it and an appropriate usb cable.)
My research mavens will just use this to store PhD arcania and carry it around with them from lab to office to kitchen table. But they were quite happy with Christmas gift, and why not get 2T for the price of one? It's almost like having your own private cloud.
Oh, in case you haven't read the other reviews, treat the backup software included like you would the bloatware on any computer--delete or ignore it, don't try to use it! You are buying storage, at 3 cents a megabyte, not the world's best backup software--and who uses backup software anyway, that's in the ionosphere these days.

The Logitech m325 is my go to mouse. Of course, I have a touch pad and a touch screen--but not on my 27" monitor, and while I enjoy exercise, stretching my arm out straight all day (well, arms, can use both) is not exactly an ergonomic improvement over a mouse that I can use on any surface, including a couch, a notepad, or a desktop (an actual desktop, if you know what I mean).
Also, have you ever tried to drag your finger across two screens? Just saying.
Why this mouse? It works reliably, I can switch buttons and use my left hand as well so that I'm not exacerbating the inevitable carpel tunnel challenges, and it lasts reasonably long. I generally replace mice every few years.
Yes, I have used microsoft mice and generic mice, but never hampsters. While I hate it when my mouse dies, these are reliable, predictable, a balance in size for both portability when I travel and ergonomicity (made that word up) at home, and so they are my go-to standard.

Every once in a while a familiar product that competes primarily on price, like a AA battery, gets updated in a way that differentiates itself from the old product. Since the old product can't be more expensive, the solution is to give it a new name and sell both, one for slightly more. This is the more.expensive version, and I have no way of telling how different it is :-)

What's great about it: you need this battery or you wouldn't be looking
What's not so great: best buy is not the cheapest place to buy batteries
CR2032 is used in such things as bike spedometers, pedometers, watches, and timers. It's a common disk shaped battery. It gets used when current draw is low, and the manufacturer wants a low profile for 3 volts. But if you want the best price on something like this you probably want to go some place that stocks lots of low priced items rather than an electronics superstore, if you catch my drift :-)

Chromecast connection setup
I tried to setup the connection from TV to my laptop. The laptop recognizes the TV connection, but I cannot complete the setup because i have VPN. My question is: how do manually dis-able VPN in order to use the Chromecast connection? Can i enable VPN after i am done with Chromecast? Or is there any other way to bypass this way of setup and make Chromecast works?

There are several ways to approach this, Johnny, but you are on to the problem. VPN sends your data over a "shielded pipe" to whatever receives it on the other end, usually a server not on your local area wi-fi.
If you are receiving the signal over the vpn and then you want to broadcast it over your local wifi to the chromecast, you essentially need two connections to your computer. For example, you could use ethernet over RJ45 (oversized phone jack) for your vpn and the wifi for the chromecast. VPN can't share with the chromecast because...then it wouldn't be vpn any more! But your computer can handle two connections at once, one for vpn and one for the local wifi to the chromecast.
This isn't a trivial question because people who are in one jurisdiction sometimes use vpn's to get content that is jurisdiction-restricted. Like you have a vpn to the US from Asia... Netflix has just started restricting this btw, as they want to sell in each jurisdiction.

If it's bluetooth, any bluetooth will pair with it. It's not really a tv streamer because you only want the audio, so you want a bluetooth transceiver that takes audio input, a tv with audio output, and you connect them together.

This modem will handle anything you throw at it. It connects from your computer or router with an ethernet cable and to your cable line on the other side with coax, usually provided by the cable company.
There is not a separate input for your phone to connect like on the comcast combination router/phone/modem. This just does data, not phone.

What router/modem is compared to the Arris TG862G/CT
I am using the Arris TG862G/CT Router/Modem that I rent from Comcast. I am sick of paying the rental fee every month and was wondering what I can purchase that is close to this one at a reasonable price. I don't care if it is refurbished or the box has been opened as long as it does the job. I only (very ancient) computer with Windows XP that is linked to my cell phone. I only get cable and internet through Comcast because I don't have a house phone. What is the least expensive router/modem that I can purchase that will work with my services the best.
First, that is a Motorola SB6121, and it is a cable modem, not a router. BTW, it is a really stable, excellent cable modem!
(I bought the same one at Best Buy myself and it is an excellent, very standard product. The M at the top is for Motorola and I can read the SB6121 at the bottom! It is better known by that designation.)
Second, they sell it at Best Buy and when I bought mine I price matched because it was available at Best Buy online cheaper, so do check the price.
Third, you can connect it to any router and they'll all work fine unless you have higher needs, like streaming multiple movies at once and so on.
Cheap wifi routers run $25-50. You don't need a router if you just plug it directly into one computer using an ethernet cable (with the oversized phone jacks on each end "RJ45", comes with the modem.)

Asus m32bc graphics card upgrade
Im looking to upgrade the graphics card in my asus m32bc desktop pc. I was wondering what recommendations there was for a graphics card and also a power supply.
The graphics card needs to work with the slot (physical connection) in the pc and the operating system (software including bios). This is a product review site that will not reliably answer that question.
Similarly, replacing a power supply in a desktop requires the same thing.
The good news is that desktops are built using a plug-and-play architecture that means that it is likely simpler to replace either or both of these than it is to replace your water heater, although a little harder than replacing your toaster.

Faxing Without Landline
Can I setup the fax to fax without a landline, i.e., wirelessly? I have read some articles using VOIP or using Google VoIP modem. I have landline wired, but it is not activated, i.e., I do not have home phone service. I only need to send faxes when not accepted via scan/email. I do have a google voice phone number. Thanks
To fax without a landline, you would normally want to use a software solution. The fax option discussed for the printer is a hardware solution, you plug a phone line into the printer and it answers the call, broadcasts a fax signal, negotiates with the fax machine on the other end (using audio noise) and sends or receives a fax.
So to use VOIP, which you can, you must have service, through a computer, custom box like magic jack, or modem, that manages a physical phone jack or line with standard phone protocols (audio noise and voice) that you can then connect to the printer/fax.
If you want to use IP (internet protocol), normally you just send files like pdf's etc, but it is of course as you say possible to use VOIP to make phones (and faxes) travel over the internet for part of the trip.

Can you print from an android smartphone or just apple
If your phone can "see" the printer, you should be able to print. Try telling your phone to print and see what happens.
HP also has a work around where you send your file to a customized email address and the printer gets it and prints the file. This is not quite the same as printing directly since the printer is doing the formatting, not your computing device. It's a bit like printing photos, I guess.
Disclaimer: I use neither of these options from day to day.

How do you install the scan software
I downloaded the drives and software from the HP website but when I installed it, the scan software didn't install. Where can I get the software?
Check the directions. Normally you hit scan on the printer, where you are, rather than running software on the desktop. Then you should get a prompt about where to save the file etc.
Or maybe just try going to the printer and selecting scan, see what happens....
