I currently own the Logitech cameras. I thought I'd buy 1 of these to try it out. While I like that this unit is not dependent on an SD card and PC to backup video like the Logitech cameras do, I'm not really a fan of the monthly/yearly subscription to accomplish what I used to be able to do for free. I have had issues with the zone alerts not alerting me on a consistent basis.

I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Features and ease of use

What's not so great: Not Universally Compatibile

I first started using the Tivo product back in the early 2000s when they first came out. Given their lack of compatibility with some services years later I was forced to use my cable company's DVR. Well, now with a growing demand for recording shows, and since my cable company's DVR limits the number of recorded shows to 4, I purchased a Tivo once again. I connected it to a HD antenna to record local shows. I was surprised to learn that the Tivo experience has been greatly enhanced and was well worth the investment.

What is the subscription fee for?

They charge a fee to use the device that you bought? What services does the fee cover? Anything?

The fee is to store any video that is captured. You can still use the camera to watch a live feed, you just can't go back and see what happened previously.

Smart Tv versus cable box

Is there a smart TV (ie LG or Samsung) that will deliver TV without having a cable box?

Any TV with a built in tuner can have an antenna attached to it and you'll be able to get local channels without a problem. The added benefit of a smart TV are the additional apps like Netflix and Hulu where you can get even more content streamed to your TV.
