This is the 3rd SodaStream machine I have owned. The first one lasted 10 years. The 2nd one is a different model and only uses the smaller capacity carbonators. Fine, but needs replacement cartridges quicker.

I bought this one to perfectly replace my original unit. Apparently the factory changed the way they make them about a year ago. It now takes about 10 or so pumps to get the same amount of carbonation that 7 used to (and it still advertises about 7). So I am needing to use more at a higher expense. I am disappointed, although I am happy to still own the machine. It will probably cost me more to drink my soda, but I am saving the environment.

I would recommend this to a friend!

Are carbonators refillable or do you need to buy new ones? How long do they last?

You bring the carbonator to any store that sells them and they will sell you a replacement one, while taking back the old one - kind of like propane tanks when you return the old tank and get a new one that is already refilled.

As to how long they last, it depends on how many bottles of soda you fill up. There are 2 sizes of carbonators. The large one will make up to 130 liter bottles, but it depends on how many pumps you put into each bottle. Obviously, the more you put in, the less bottles you will get out of it.
