This thing plays just about any disk or audio/video format out there and does a great job. My Blue Ray movies look better then ever, and 4k movies are even better. It also sees all my plex media shares on the network and plays them too.
It also plays 4k files from YouTube and Amazon over my wifi network about flawlessly.
Nice player that's built like a tank.
Some users are having issues getting some TVs to show hdr disks properly but it early yet for that format and this player so I'm betting it will get resolved with a firmware update for this player or the affected TVs.
Doubt you can find another player that does so much for close to what this one costs.

My first one showed up powering up but basically almost the whole drive was bad sectors. The return to store was painless and second drive was shipped to me in about a week. This drive is perfect and has worked quiet and cool since a full format then installed in the box. Best Buy is easy to work with on issues and drive has a 3 year warranty so your covered pretty well in case of a defective one and I would buy one again even with my issues with the first one. It may have been damaged in shipping or just a bad one slipped through QC. The new one has been fine and was a great deal when on sale.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: plug and play, ready to use
What's not so great: Uses a external power brick
Drive plugged into my USB3 port and was immediately recognized and working. All the Seagate extras are on the drive and can be deleted or saved depending on your preference.
Drive shuts off when PC goes into deep sleep mode and spins down when not being used.
Seems very fast and my PC sees it like any other drive in the box except it is called a "Seagate Backup Plus Drive" and the letter my PC assigned to it.
Very happy with it and price was reasonable what with a 2 year warranty and quick in store pickup.

Does the on-screen display provide information on the video and audio bitrates? Does the display provide data on the audio output?
Yes it does. If you hit display while playing a disk it will show all the info on bit rates and codec used and like that, very handy.

Can I use this as a working external hardrive?
I am a CPA and have multiple companies QuickBooks Enterprise files saved in a Dropbox Folder which I work off of. I want to transfer my "working" copies of QuickBooks Enterprise to WD Passport and back up to DropBox but don't know if the WD works as an extended hard drive that I can work off of and it is saved in real time rather than having to start a back up process after I am finished with each company file. Please let me know.
Yep, PC sees it as just another drive so you can just put files directly on it and also seems pretty fast if you use USB3 port.

Power Supply ?
Does this external hard disk need a power supply to be able to work or you just plug it in to the computer ?
Yes, it comes with the power brick needed to work and is formatted and ready to go for a PC.
