Sound quality is great. You can hear footsteps of other players even without the super hearing feature. Can adjust between game and chat volumes with the headset adapter. Or you can forgo the adapter and just plug straight into controller if you have the newer controller with the 35mm input. All in all great purchase.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Can you hook up the headset without audio (OUT) Jacks on my TV

I strictly play the sound through my headset. The headset only plugs into the Xbox controller. And does not plug into TV at all.

How well can you hear yourself talk on the feedback? I don't want too be yelling because I can't tell how loud I am

You can adjust the feedback to louder/lower so that you can know when you are talking too loud.

I want to buy my grandson a headset for Xbox-1 and also a gaming computer (which needs a UBS feature and 2 wires to connect to the computer (l for hearing, 1 for talking). What headset should I buy?

You could use any headset you prefer you would just need to purchase a y-cable that has both game and chat separated. Or purchase a mic that has it straight out of the box. Most headsets for Xbox1 do not have this cross functionality without that y-cable.
