Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Standard Lens: A perfect everyday lens for any photographer, the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G offers fast autofocusing combined with an integrated lens coating to deliver clear and crisp images. The wide-open aperture is ideal for low-light shooting and creating images with beautiful background blur.

Last Christmas I bought my wife a D3300 and I've wanted to get her a lens with a really open aperture ever since then. I got this one for her for Mother's Day and we've both been really impressed with it. It makes a huge difference for portrait shots.
I would recommend this to a friend!

How does this lens work on a DX camera?

This is for my Nikon D5500. I see it can be used for both DX and FX cameras. I want to know how this lens will affect the image on a DX camera?
It doesn't hurt the image quality to use a FX lens on a DX camera but it effectively increases the focal distance since the real image is bigger than the sensor. When I use my 50mm it's more like a 75mm. Using a DX lens on a FX camera does decrease the image quality because the real image is smaller than the sensor.
