This is a great wireless mouse by Logitech. I've had it for about 6 months and haven't needed to change the batteries yet while mostly using it in endurance mode. The 6 buttons on the side plus 2 on top are very useful for games and general use and are completely customizable, including macros. The ones on the side have a loud click that may be a little annoying, though. The USB receiver is incredibly small (just like the size of the ones for their travel mice). Overall, this is the best wireless mouse with extra side buttons and a small USB receiver that you can find.

Does it need a USB drive to work

The USB receiver must be plugged in, so your computer does need a USB port. The USB receiver is inside the box so you don't have to buy it separately. It can also be housed within the mouse for easy storage.
