Good Replacement CD Player

I have a high end Yamaha stereo system that is about 30 years old but still creates excellent sound. When the CD player finally gave up the ghost, I had to decide whether to ditch the whole thing or replace the CD player. Fortunately, this Sony player was available at a reasonable price. It has the same footprint as the Yamaha, the same black finish, and seems to have almost as good fidelity. In addition, it has a USB connection that allows me to play digital files. Although the days are numbered for this type of technology (i.e. CDs), I am happy that this well made option was available. I think CDs produce better sound than MP3 files although not a good as vinyl records, which I also continue to enjoy with this system.

CD Recorder
Will this unit record from an analog source
The unit can record tracks from CD to a flash drive in the USB port, but since it has no inputs, it cannot record from an external source (analog or otherwise). Also, it does not have CD writing capability. This is simply a CD player designed to complement a component audio system.

Will this play C.D.'s itself without a reciever
No. A receiver or some sort of power supply is required.

No. This is just a CD player, not a DVD player.

SHUFFLING
We are looking at purchasing this unit, but would like to know if with the shuffle feature: will it randomly select a disc and randomly select a selection from that disc then at the end of the song randomly select a different disc and song. Listening to an entire disc gets to be a bit much at times. Thanks
Yes, this unit allows you to randomly shuffle the songs on all the loaded discs, or just a single disc.

This is a component stereo piece. You need to connect it to a receiver which will then power the speakers.
