What's great about it: Would be great if it worked with this printer.
What's not so great: When I tried to activate I was told by HP not valid with 8600
Guess this is a Best Buy issue. Salesman who sold us the printer sold us the Instant Ink program. We were told we could upgrade if we used more than program allowed at entry level. Glad we only purchased the minimum $2.99 product because when we tried to activate it we were told by HP it is not available with the printer we purchased.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Is buying ink cartridge cheaper than the HP Instant Ink Plan
the HP Instant Ink Plan claims a 50% discount on ink. Plans start at $2.99/mo, 50pages/mo. The XL cartridge costs $36.99 and specs say it's good for 2300 pages. To get 2300 pages with the instant ink plan that would cost (2300/50 x 2.99 = $137.54 over a 46 month period). Am I missing something? Even the $9.99/mo plan 300 pages/mo would still be more expensive; 2300/300 x 9.99 = $76.67 for 2300 pages printed over ~7.5 months)
Best Buy sold us the instant ink plan when we purchased our printer but when we tried to enroll HP advised us the printer we purchased was not eligible for this program. It is only available for certain lower end models, a fact our sales associate apparently was not aware of - go figure. Check it out before you purchase.

I have an hp 1210xi all in one printer...Would this printer be compatiable?
My suggestion is that you call HP. Best Buy sold it to me but HP said it wasn't valid with the printer I purchased. I think there were only a couple of printers you can use this service with.
