What's great about it: the pause record feature
What's not so great: the editing software
I use this camera to shoot how-to crafting videos. I love the pause record feature because I can pause the video between steps and not need to start a new file eliminating the need for editing several clips together. I upload 75% of my videos shot on this camera directly to Youtube (my youtube channel is thefrugalcrafter if you want to see it in action.) When I need to edit video I use Corel Video Studio Pro and not the software that comes with the camera. Also I fine it easier to upload from the Youtube upload page than uploading through the easy sharing software but that might just be because if what I am used to. You can't beat this camera for the price (got it on sale for $150), i shoot indoors mostly so I can't comment on wind noise on the mic if outside. I does what I need it to do and I am very happy with it. Also I like the built in lens cover and how it charges when I hook i to my computer, the camera is never out of batteries. One more thing, it takes good still shots too, I took it to a baseball game and could zoom right in to my son pitching;)

can you capture pictures while recording?
Yes, there is a favorite clip button, I have not used it but I think that is what it does but in editing software under the edit tab you can take a snapshot of any frame in the video.
