What's great about it: small, inexpensive, hdmi output
What's not so great: limited expandability of micro-atx
I picked one of these up to stack with the cable box and stereo for streaming, surfing, and as a dvd player. This box isn't as small as a nettop, but still much smaller than a fullsize media center PC. It's about as small a machine as you're going to find with an HDMI output and enough graphics horsepower to use it. It's capable enough to stream HD content without worrying about frame dropping. Using a wireless keyboard and mouse and the wireless LAN, it adds only a power cord and an HDMI cable to the bundle of wires behind the TV.
The only things I might change would be to sacrifice some hard drive space and swap to a solid state drive; and potentially swap the DVD drive out for a blue ray drive.
For what I was after, this little PC is absolutely a bullseye ! A couple friends are seriously looking at doing the same thing.
This product is... quiet, A nice compact size, Attractive design, easy to set up, hdmi output, dedicated media center
About me... Budget Conscious, Comfortable with technology
I would recommend this to a friend!

what softwafe should I also buy with a Dell all in one?

Personally I like stardock's start8... just because I'm accustomed to windows 7's start menu and too lazy to get used to a change ;)

plug that goes to monitor is it vga or dvi ?
