You have the ability to stream from your devices, you can watch YouTube on you TV and Hulu plus using the chromecast if you dondont havhave any other streaming devices. And not to mmention the unbeatable price.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Can this connect to shared files on a network?

I have an external hard drive connected to my network, as well as files on my desktop i would like to play through the Chromecast. Can the device connect to these shared folders on the network to play these files?
Yes, you have to have google chrome on your computer, and have to download the stream attachment.
