I find that it's a good enough product for the money. You could do more with the cromecast than you could with a more expensive device.

I would recommend tthis product to anyone that has a very large library of movies like I do. It wouldn't matter what room I am in or where I am. I have all my media with me to watch any time I want. If you own a Roku device it works the best on Roku 3 but only reads mkv and mov. Files. The ps3 will read the Avi and mp4 for movies. The Seagate media player will play most of the video formats. In conclusion I believe this product to be worth the money. I will be buying another one in the future.

do you have to put a credit card on file for any reason?

No credit card required for this device. it doesn't have any app's of its own. All the apps and browsers you will be using are on your smart phone, tablet, or computer. They connect wirelessly to the cromecast to stream onto your tv.
