Case gives great protection. Belt clip can be used as holder to watch videos. I removed screen protector film since it isnt great. Replaced it with an Invisible Shield.

No wiring needed for this version. It is a bit wide so you may want to mount on house siding. Will also need to swap out rechargeable battery on this model.

Bought the pro model due to my having to mount on brick mould. Also liked the fact thus model gives for setting motion zones. Had to run wires for door bell but worth it.

How does the sling box 500 work with Direct TV? I seen a review that said he couldn't get it to work. Does anyone know about this and do you need special cables, etc? Any issues with streaming from Direct Tv in US to Germany? What kind of DVR would anyone recommend?

What is the maximum number of devices that can be authorized to use Slingbox?
I currently use DirecTv's GenieGo app to watch recorded programs on my mobile devices. However, GenieGo limits you to 5 authorized devices which gets used up pretty quickly between my wife and mine's phones, tablets and notebooks. In order to use an unauthorized device I have to de-authorize one of the others which can be a real annoyance. Again, I'm asking how many devices can be authorized - not how many can use Slingbox simultaneously. Although that's another question I would need answered.
Slingbox let's one account log on at a time. Multiple people can use it but 1 at a time. That way HBO and other shows don't have to worry about people stealing their service. The tv at home could be viewed at the same time for sane show.

can sling box be used on an airplane?
can sling box be used on an airplane? I travel quite a bit and would like to watch on an airplane as well as in the hotel room.
It can be used anywhere you have a wifi/Internet connection. Keep in mind that it would be a lot of data over your phone plan. Airplane WiFi would be quit slow and pricey.

Do you need to update the rest of your home theater equipment?
Will 8-10 year old home theater systems (5.1 Sony, Onkyo, Panasonic) be sufficient or will they need to be replaced? Blue ray CD player? Sound bar vs 4 corner speaker? Do they really work that well? Thank you.
I connected soundbar via optical link with no issues. As long as your older system will hook up via hdmi or optical you should be fine. New systems will have more options.

Can slingbox M1 be connected to TIVO mini and how
If it has hdmi, rca or component outputs then it will work. Component is best for the sling.
