What's great about it: Capacity for the price.
What's not so great: Kind of big physically but not objectionable.
I have historically thought of Seagate as being better quality than other brands but I know that it really doesn't matter anymore because all consumer brands are mediocre now. It's not whether the drive will die, it's how long will it be before it dies.
One thing I do is unplug it when not in use for backing up because how many hours of high speed spinning the drive is subjected to is directly related to how long it will last before death. So my new Seagate got about 8 hours of backup recording time, about an hour of verifying everything was there, and that's all. Next time I back up it will get about that much again. This helps me avoid blow outs. I've only had two drives die in all my 35 years of PC experience and I believe this helps a lot.
This Seagate was the best dollar value I saw and I ended up with 3TB for $120 and got a $25 Best Buy gift card too - so I can't complain at all.
In action it's nice and fast and has a ton of storage capacity that should last me for a couple years although I shoot about 35,000 RAW photo files per year, convert them to 35,000 TIFF files, then cull out about 1/2 of them for deletion before each backup. And I shoot MP4 video which sucks up a lot of space fast too.
I'd recommend it.
This product has... Fast, Quiet, Large capacity/good size, a bit bulky but not objectionable.
About me... Budget Conscious, Work with large multimedia files, Business Professional, Need a simple backup solution, been doing this for a very long time.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Keys feel good. Easy setup. AA battery for power will last a long time.
What's not so great: Had a little bit of interference with my wi-fi antennas
Bought this for $19.99 and it's great. I've had some other $10 to $20 keyboards by off-brands you would recognize and I'm lucky if they last for a couple weeks. I don't beat the keys either. It must be something about the angles at which my fingers press the keys. I bought a couple of those bright yellow keyboards with large black letters as a 2-pack and one had dead keys in two days and the other one had other dead keys in 10 days. Absolute trash. The two pack wasn't to make it into a good deal it was to give you a spare for when the other one died quickly.
This HP keyboard works flawlessly and it's about two month old now. The keys feel good and are very responsive so you can type with a light touch. They're kind of like hard plastic chiclets similar to the rubber chiclet keys but feel better.
The only problem I had was when I plugged the receiver into a USB port on the back of my desktop PC. It was near my two wi-fi antennas and the keyboard would "drop out" in the middle of typing sometimes as though signal flow was lost. My Dell has a front slide down plastic door with a USB port in there so I moved it to the front and told the keyboard to pair up again and the drop out has never happened again.
Excellent keyboard and even more excellent because of the low price and the HP name that would seem to provide better quality longer than those "other" off-brands.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Capacity for the price.
What's not so great: Doesn't work.
I bought this drive and took it home for installation. The PC would act like it was going to recognize the drive for a moment and then ignore it. After several attempts, and trying to figure out if I was doing something wrong (with a plug and play device that doesn't require a new driver?) I decided to do some Google research where I learned that many have this problem of incompatibility with Dell and Apple computers. I have a loaded Dell Inspiron StudioXPS.
Apparently, from what I read, Toshiba drives require more than the 5.0V that USB ports provide and when it tries to get it from a Dell or Apple the USB controller shuts off the power to the drive because it thinks the device is defective. In reality, my background in electronics tells me that it's more likely that the drive draws excess current from the 5V USB port and that alarms the PC and that's why it shuts off.
Many PCs don't even notice but a Dell does. A fix is to get a USB y-cord and plug it into two USB ports (validation that it's a current draw problem and not a voltage problem) and then into the Toshiba drive. But I'm not going to search for a USB Y-cord to counter a stupid engineering mistake on their part and waste one of my USB ports.
So after seeing that information in several blogs, I returned the lightweight 2TB Toshiba drive two hours later, bought a heavier desktop-type 3TB Seagate for $20 more, and had instant gratification and no more problems.
The worst part is that Toshiba is aware of this and keeps selling zillions of this line of drives anyway. How many buyers go home and go through hours of headaches and return the drives? I'm very disappointed in Toshiba for that error in judgement because they typically make very good PCs and other electronics.

Is it compatible with tablets that have USB? Specifically MS Surface RT?

If the compatible MS keyboard accessory for the tablet connects through USB, this would too. If not, the tablet may not have USB drivers built into the OS for user interfaces like a keyboard or mouse. It may be Win8 but it is likely also a cut down "mobile" version of WIn8 where some things are left out to reduce size and others left out to reduce compatibility with non-MS accessories that they want you to buy from them.

Try a wired normal USB keyboard on it if you have one. If it works, then this HP wireless keyboard will too.

Will this work with Samsung smart 50" TV ?

If the TV works with a standard PC keyboard that can plug in directly, then this would too. Yank the standard wired USB keyboard off of your PC and try it, then if that works, this wireless one will too.

Can this drive be used with PC and Mac, multiple units, without reformatting?

As I said in my review there is a lot of talk about incompatibility of this drive with Apple. I had a problem with compatibility with Dell PCs which is also known. So, I wouldn't bet on it fitting your need but you should just try one on both and see. If it works, good for you. If it doesn't, too bad for Best Buy...

USB Compatibility

Is this compatible with regular USB?
I have a 5 year old Toshiba Laptop that's pretty nice, but it just has "regular" USB ports. I think it was made before even USB 2.0.
Will this hard drive work with my "Regular" USB ports Toshiba Laptop?
The USB 3.0 drive is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and I know this for fact but... I don't believe there is any discussion that I've seen of USB 1.0 compatibility. 2.0 was backward compatible with 1.0 but that's a two generation jump so 3.0 may not be. You'll just have to try it and see. If not, take it back for a refund.

Your computer should be able to list all details of your setup in Control Panel/Devices (location of that info is depending on whatever WIndows you are using) where the USB system will be described and should say if it's 2.0 or not.

Does this product work with Windows 8.1 as well. Please let me know asap.

USB is a hardware standard used by both Windows and Apple, so this drive isn't really affected by what Windows you are using. If the included software (which you don't really have to install if you're just doing simple basic backups) works with Win8 (and it will) there's no reason it won't work with Win8.1 too. 8.1 is just an bug-fixing update to 8, not an overhauled all new OS. When we get to Win9 which will likely be an extensive revamping, then you may want to ask this question.

Is this good for traveling abroad?

I'm a student traveling to Europe and was wondering if this is portable enough to be good abroad. I will be traveling there and staying for five months, before returning home.
Because it runs off of your USB port and doesn't plug into electric power, it will work with your computer no matter where you go - if the computer itself works there. Since a computer's power supply is typically capable of working on a wide variety of voltages in a variety of countries, the USB-connected drive will still get the same voltage it gets in the USA - 5 volts.

Be aware of the Toshiba Canvio to Apple or Dell incompatibility problem though and make sure it works with your computer before leaving the store where you buy it.

I have a 3rd generation ipad. Using the camera adapter, a message appears that says the 3.0 USB REQUIRES TOO MUCH POWER.

Purchased the Toshiba 2 gb external hard drive.
Attempting to connect to IPad using camera kit
As I said in my review, the Canvio line is known to be a problem with Apple and Dell, so it's likely you won't get it to work with your iPad.
