I had bought my 1st 4K Smart TV and I was worried I would not be able to set it up (WiFi). Since then I have set up 2. It is not that hard to do. Aggravating and time consuming, yes. But you can do it by following the instructions on the screen. The TV I bought was not designed to be wall-mounted (the HDMI ports were not side ports; one of them stuck straight out the back) and a good tech would have told me that the wiring was temporary and that there were HDMI adapters available to fix the problem. The wiring quit working after a week because The cable was bent.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I had previously purchased a smaller, cheaper sound bar and it did not perform as well as I had wished. I bought this and it blasted me through the wall! I have been using it as my only sound source for TV/movies/discs, and Rogue One made the dishes in my kitchen rattle! I highly recommend this for power and clarity. (note: did not work well with my LG TV [loud popping noise every time I hit any button on the Comcast remote] but worked well with my Sharp and Samsung TVs

Very sharp picture. I only upgraded because I wanted a larger screen. I did not love the sound from the TV speakers. It was acceptable, but not great. If you are playing sound from external speakers, it is fine. Also, it did not pick up my WiFi as strongly as the replacement TV (a Samsung); it worked, but there were picture problems (pixel blocks). Good TV if close to WiFi router.

Can you connect this to the cable box instead of the TV? If so, how is the sound quality?
possibly yes. it is Bluetooth and is not "wired" to anything other than an optical cable. There is an optical cable outlet on the back of my Comcast box. Have no idea how it would work or sound, but yes. You should be able to plug it in. Mine is plugged into the back of my TV and I get the sound of the cable broadcast, as well as everything else. Good luck.
