What's great about it: Bright, instant on, energy efficient
What's not so great: little heat comapre with Cree bulb
I purchased to replace compact florescent bulb for my desk lamp (use ~5 hr/day) while it’s on sale. This one lights up immediately (unlike CF bulb you have to wait for a few minute until it lights up). This LED bulb uses slightly less energy than the same CF bulb (60W equivalent) does, and generates less heat. Hope this bulb last at least 5 years. BTW, the LED light bulbs are still expensive compare to CF light bulbs. It’s good to replace those that used most often (> 1 hr/day) in your home.

Yes, It generate very little heat so it can be used in a closed fixture.

In case of a warranty claim, can item be returned to local Best Buy?
The warranty is covered by the manufacturer so you have to contact the manufacturer for a warranty claim. So keep the package of the bulb.

Does this bulb run hot to the touch? I need a cool burning LED bulb in case our bird lands on it. Thanks!
This light bulb generates very little heat compare to conventional light bulb. It generates little less heat compare with CF bulb. I can touch the bulb with my hand and just feel it warm (not HOT). Don’t know how birds are sensitive to it when it’s on. But one good thing with LED light bulb is that it’s not packed within a thin glass envelop (unlike the conventional light bulb or CF light bulb), so your bird won’t break it.
