We built a new house and have been upgrading electronics as we could. We originally wanted to have all the living room A/V equipment installed before we moved in but decided to spend that money elsewhere, but did buy a Sony 4K TV as a start. I broke out that A/V quote and since it was a year old, started shopping the items on it. The A/V receiver we were replacing was a 5+ Pioneer that I thought did a good job but did not have the 4K pass through, and the quote had another brand with a lot more power and extras that we did not need. I decided I wanted to try to "keep it in the family" and looked at Sony Receivers. There were some other Sony's I looked at with 4K pass through but settled on this one, and have not been disappointed at all! I bought it after Christmas since it was on sale and with some Bestbuy giftcards I got, so not sure where the price is now, but definately glad I paid for it! Looks elegant and stylish, and compliments the 4K TV very nicely. Using the same Polk speakers I have had for years (bookshelves), I feel the sound is 100% better. Part of that may be due to the included microphone and tuning feature, but sure the receiver itself is putting clean signal out there too. Great 7.2 sound! Since this makes those "older" speakers sound better than before, I will focus my upgrades on other areas and change out speakers last.
I would recommend this to a friend!

8 ohms & 6 ohms

I have polk monitor 30s front pure acoustic center polk t15 rears all 8ohms golng to buy polk t50 towers 6 ohms need new 7.1 receiver will this do the job
Without knowing the acoustics in your house, and I am not a professional or audiophile at all, I do believe it will do the job, and quite possibly exceed you expectations! To me, the ohms do not matter, its the sound... so while i cannot talk to you about the ohms, I can tell you about my experience.

i am using older Polk bookshelf speakers for L/C/R and its like I am listening to a better set of speakers, and I was not disappointed with them at all before I bought this receiver. I think one of the reasons you will be happy is it does come with a microphone you plug in the front that runs a test to determine how to set itself up.
