The mount is solid and sturdy but you install it at its highest point which didn't work for my half wall. Could not lift to the desired height. I moved it to my bedroom and its great.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Will installing on one stud and two into the drywall be enough to support 55 pounds?

Yes but make sure you uae the zip toggle bolts in the 2 drywall holes

Lateral adjustment

Is there any room for lateral adjustment. I need to center this above my fireplace. Where is the center-line of the mount relative to the holes for the lag screws for the single stud?
No lateral adjustment with this mount. The center of the unit is even with the center of the TV.
