I bought 4 tiles to give to my kids my wife and my mother all who lose their keys or phone every week it seems. 3 of them are still working 1 died just this week. It worked great! Found my sons keys every time he claims he lost them. My mother's tile just stopped working....I think the battery died and she is 90 and needs it the most so I will need to contact tile and work them to get it replaced...I like the product and I like the groupware it was easy to setup. It feels very slow when you ask the group to find things. I tested it out looking for my sons keys he was at work the counter at major grocery store chain lots of people passing by all day....took about a week to find his keys......seems a bit long but it did work and that is good. I would recommend the more rugged one if you have this attached to your keys or other device that is handled often.

What can I say to help others to understand it is a very reliable drive. I have 3 in on my desk and there are a number of them in my office that others use. The USB 3 is fast and the drive does what it suppose to, move and keep information quickly and reliably.

I carry mine in my briefcase and although the case has been set down hard or dropped off the hood of my car the drive has never once exhibited negative effects. I can not say that about some other brands that have dropped dead after a few mild shocks.

I have a Mac & a PC that I need to backup. I can I use 1 of these devices for both at the same time or do I have to get 1 devices?

I want to store my entire CD collection in here. Any idea how many CDs it will hold? I have Approximately 468.

How many will it hold? About 70 times your entire collection.....

For reference
2 terabyte drive can hold about 650,000 3MB Photos
OR
500,000 MP3 Files @ 4 minutes per song
which would be about 4 years of music or 33,332 hours of music.....
if you are like me and store 1080P MOVIES compressed they run about 2Gig compressed so about 1,000 movies.
If you just rip the BluRay without altering it more like 200-250....I would suggest COMPRESSION!

PS if you are a MUSIC lover then you might really like an addional product you can get at Best Buy. It is a WIRELESS USB drive from SAN DISK. I have several and they are really SUPER for trips. They fit in your pocket and when turned on they become their own WIFI device and serve the files on the drive to those connecting to it. The kids can play music or watch movies on devices that have WIFI or those with a USB port... Charge it by plugging it into a USB somewhere like an Iphone charger!.....Myh son took 6 movies to Disney and lots of songs and shared them on the bus with his friends. VERY COOL!

Windows and Mac compatability

I currently have a Windows 7 PC and want to back up to this WD - can I then restore these files easily to a Mac - I am thinking of buying a Mac laptop in the near future

You will have to reformat it to work with MAC and PC but it can be done.
I believe the instructions are in the manual.

I currently have a Windows 8 PC and a Mac iphone and Ipad - if I want to save my photos from my Mac devices can I do it directly to the WD or do I have to save first to PC?

There are no connections to Iphone or Ipad from a USB device such as this so I would use Itunes to transfer them to either the MAC or the PC to use them.
