I needed to add a second monitor to a computer, this card let me do that without spending a ton of money on a high performance card. The computer is just used for emails and spreadsheets, so this was perfect.

I have probably bought 6 or more of these in the last 18 months, I have been upgrading friends computers for legacy hard drives, and it is a terrific upgrade for the price, gives a lot of new life to an older computer. You may need to reload windows to fit onto the SSD etc.. or use a product like EaseUS Partition Master to resize the partition before using a drive copy program to clone the old drive to it. Make backups before you do anything else !!!

I have had Dazzle products for a long time back to windows XP days.. but I needed to transfer some more videos and my old Dazzles did not have drivers for newer computers... so I looked around and this was really about the only thing I could find.. works just as good as the old ones did.. I did buy Pinnacle Studio instead of using software that came with it. Hardware Gets a A, but the software only a B, save often and you never know when it will crash out.

I only use Western Digital drives, over the last few years the quality of Seagate drives has fallen off the table. Performance and reliability of WD drive is so much better, you could build two systems one with WD and the other Seagate and just time the boot to desktop times to see for yourself.. a huge difference. Saving $5 and buying a Seagate drive will cost you more in the long run.

I have bought probably 6 of these in the last 4 or 5 months and put in customer's computers. I have always trusted Sandisk products and these have been no exception. I have not had a single problem with any of them. They just work. some other brand might be 10% faster, but thats why I buy Sandisk products, they may not be the fastest but they are very reliable... which is more important.

I just want to record programs from my television that I miss when I am at work
Short Answer is NO
you can record anything that has old style Video or S-Video...NO HDMI
but does not do HD recording...
This is basically suited for transferring old Video from VHS, 8mm camcorders etc.. (square screen format)
the newer HD cams etc should already be digital.

can this record stv programs off a cable box?

Will this drive work "good" paired with a MSI A88X-G45 Gaming Motherboard?
"Mainstream " drives are equal to the previous label of "Blue"
and "Performance" equal to "Black" (Faster and uses more power than above)
for a gaming system you will want "Performance" drives if you want faster load times.
You will notice big differences in games like "World of Warships" the big difference whether you get into a match after it has already started or not.
if you want to make sure you load quick, a SSD will be a big jump over regular hard drives.
But stick with Western Digital if you go with a traditional Hard Drive, they are much better in performance than Seagate.. Trust me on that.

Is this product compatible with Windows Vista Home Basic?
The Operating System will not be a problem as long as the ram works in the computer, so whether it is win98,xp,win7 etc.. makes no difference on type of ram. It just has to be the right ram for the motherboard.

If I have 4 GB ram already installed and I buy this 8gb will it give me 12 gigs total
With 2 expansion slots do they have to be the same size?
Most MB's it should work with(but not always), but realize you will get better performance if both sticks are the same, because it will use what is called Interleave Mode on the ram and operate faster.
I usually try to avoid mismatching ram, also ram speed is important that they are both the same speed. The motherboard tries to auto detect the speed of the ram, 2 different types of ram that are different speeds might confuse it. Be prepared to buy a second stick.
