I got this for my wife because I own the N300 and love it. We use her Internet connection for everything as mine is for business only. I got the N600 which is supposed to have a better than normal range for WiFi, however I am very disappointed. The N600 gets the SAME exact range as my N300. Save your money and get the N300.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

If you shoot DX this is a must have for the camera bag! I would recommend getting this before the nifty fifty. I have both but wish I would have bought this first. A. Fantastic. Lens.

It is all inclusive. You do NOT need to purchase a separate router.

If you have cable Internet and not DSL, yes.

No, you cannot use a cable modem for a DSL line.
