I am an avid Apple user and had been enjoying my Apple TV pretty well- though it obviously had a few weaknesses. Some friends bought a Roku 3 and asked me to set it up for them. They bought it for one app that they couldn't get on Apple TV. As I set it up, I was amazed at how easy it was to use. The apps can be a bit of a hassle to find unless you know exactly the name you are looking for- but if you get around that, this is a very capable machine. Once the apps are installed, they are a breeze to get to and load quickly.

The remote has all the handy buttons you would expect and, for me, the killer feature- a headphone jack. What an awesome feature. I now use it as my main treadmill device because it's so much easier than trying to figure out a bluetooth option or running a cable to my monitor and Apple TV like I had been doing.

I'm very happy my friends asked me to set theirs up or I never would have tried it.

I would recommend this to a friend!

what is the difference between hulu and hulu plus besides the subscription?

i noticed that the roku 3 has the hulu plus...what is the difference between hulu and hulu plus???..are both offered on the roku 3?....does the hulu plus have everything that the regular hulu has and more???....is it worth getting the plus???????

Hey Vinny,

Hulu Plus is required for streaming devices such as the Roku players, Apple TV, Playstations, etc. The content is more or less the same with a few key differences and limitations for the non-plus version that you can find on their website.

To be clear, though- you DO NOT get Hulu Plus when you buy a Roku, it just has an app that you put your subscription (around 8 dollars a month) info into and can then use the service through your device very similarly to how all of the Netflix apps work on these types of devices.
