Toshiba makes great products. Great laptops, hard drives, etc... This is no exception. This drive is reliable, quiet, easy to use and Best Buy had it for a GREAT price. Don't shop around for hard drives, this Toshiba product is great.

What can I say? They're batteries. Great batteries at that....my karaoke machine microphones rely on long lasting batteries to last longer than the party. These do a great job!

Toshiba makes very good hard drives that are very reliable. You'll run into some lemons with all brands even the seagates and western digitals but I've always bought Toshiba hard drives and they've always been good to me. Of course, the high end Seagates will probably last a while but ALL hard drives will die eventually due to the fact that they are mechanical. I've even seen Solid State drives fails and they have no moving parts.

Will this work with a Mac desktop...out of the box ( no formatting required)
You'll need to format it using disk utility on your mac.

dtc 820 2tb filling quickly
I've had mine for a few months & it is already @ 80% full. I'm not finding where the 'mass' is located
I just do routine backups & moved important files &pics; those should be only ~.75 TB at very most.
How may I access & delete old backups, or otherwise modify settings to not overload. I've looked through the settings & options, but not found what I'm needing

Assuming that you are a Windows user, backups can take quite a bit of space. What are you backing up if you don't mind me asking? Just pictures or your main hard drive? Also what backup software are you using? These questions will allow me to assist you better. Thanks

would it work in mac os 10.10?

Sorry it took a while to answer, but yes...all external hard drives are windows and mac compatible. If you format in Windows NTFS just be careful because the Mac cannot natively write to NTFS partitions without extra software so just make sure that you format with your Mac.
