I've had no problem with installation or use. It works just fine with a Harmony 650 so i don't need to keep the included remote around. Great to have 4 additional HDMI ports (3 on the rear of the unit, one on the front).
I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchased these to use as an external drive on RCA over the air (OTA) dvr's that have usb 3.0. Each of them has worked flawlessly. They record and playback without out any hiccups.

Can this control an Amazon Fire Stick?

No. The Fire Stick is not and IR device but instead is controlled through Wi-Fi. From the harmony web site: "Harmony remotes without Harmony Hub
As Amazon Fire TV does not accept infrared (IR) commands, Harmony remotes that do not come with a Bluetooth enabled Harmony Hub will be unable to control it."

will it work a android streaming box

only if it is an IR device. For example, it can control the Roku 1, 2, 3, streaming boxes, but not the Roku Stick, and not the Amazon Fire stick for the same reason (those are not IR devices, but instead use WI-FI to control theit functions). The Harmony 650 and 700 remotes only control IR devices.

Can you set timers for TV and Stereo and Direct TV box?

Only if your TV has that feature. The remote doesn't have its own timer function for devices. The remote will either automatically include a "sleep" menu button when you add your device, or if it does not, you can add one using the remote to remote button cloning method (again, assuming your TV has a sleep feature.) Then you just select that menu item or press the assigned button same as you would on the original tv remote. If your TV doesn't have a timer function, then you could get an ihome wifi plug, plug your tv into it, then program it on your phone to turn off and on.

How well does it work with the echo Dot?

I have not found any way to get the Harmony 650 (or the 700) to work with echo dot. I don't think it is possible because the remote has no way of receiving data from echo. The Harmony Hub has some limited ability to work with echo, but I tried it and didn't find it to be very useful. I think the 650 and 700 remotes are excellent, easier to set up and control then the Harmony Hub, and a steal when on sale. The 700 is the same as the 650 but has the ability to recharge rechargeable batters when plugged into a usb power source. However, you can just use regular batteries as well, turning it into a Harmony 650. The Harmony 700 has been discontinued so is often on sale. Best Buy deal of the day had it as low as $45 a week ago.
