I bought this as an open item for a trip to Europe.
Only the lesser voltage adapter was usable. All the outlets i encountered were rounded, so the rectangle design could not be plugged into the outlets that was used for the higher voltage devices. Subsequently I also fried a brand new desktop fan we had brought using the smaller adapter.
I encountered this in Germany and Czech Republic. The Hotel in Paris had the standard US plugs in their hotel rooms.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Much cheaper than buying the the Microsoft branded ones.
Sometimes my controller shuts off in the middle of playing a game or loses connection. Not sure that's the cause of the battery though?
I think that's something with Xbox One and the controller..

If you have the old one, there's really nothing new about it other than the design. For some reason it won't connect to my 5ghz WIFI (which was the main reason I got it).
Works fine on the 2.4.

Pretty cool little item for only $35. Comes in handy big time while traveling, especially when the hotel room has terrible cable selections. I mainly use if for the Sing Box app that recently came out for Chromecast. Most people that have issues with this, are because of the program you're casting. Netflix/Hulu/ESPN etc etc work with no problem. Sling Box can be buggy sometimes.
Note - You need a dedicated hotspot app on your PC for sharing since most hotels require you to log in when using their internet connections.

does this charge with the power off ?

I am wondering if this will charge the batteries when my xbox one console power is off, or do I need to keep the power on to my console in order to charge the batteries ?
Yes it will charge with the power off.

I think power still flows through the Xbox even when you supposedly have it powered down completely (I'm talking about the complete shutdown mode and not the sleep mode for constant connection).

You'll see and orange light when it's charging and a white light when the battery is fully charged.

Will Chromecast work with a hot spot?

I would like to us a chromecast in my camping trailer to watch on demand programs. I will be using an AT&T hot spot for my internet reception. Will this device work or do I need something else to do this?
All Chromecast does is allow you to CAST whatever device you're viewing on your phone/tablet/pc 's APP (Hulu, Netflix, Espn, etc) on to be shown on the TV. If the APP itself doesn't work with Chromecast, it won't work for you.

For Example, Sling Box recently updated their APP to allow Chromecasting, so we were watching our home TV recently in Florida via my cell phone casting the Sling Box app on it on the TV, which our cable box has all the cable channels, dvr, etc etc..

I'm pretty sure HBO Go app is Chromecast-able, so if HBO is where you're wanting to watch your On-Demand Movies, you should be good.
