I needed a range extender that could operate at both 2.4 and 5ghz simultaneously. This was the perfect choice at the right price. Setup was so easy and the price point could not have been more attractive.

I have always owned my own internet modem and router rather than rent from my internet provider and both of mine were outdated. This item fit the bill perfectly and was a snap to install and activate. Great item if you are running at 2.4 or 5.0 ghz. Only wish it broadcasted both simultaneously.

easy to install?
I do no have all the computer smarts.can a woman install this or. Do I need a tech?
Your cable provider can assist if you feel it is too difficult. The modem portion is a breeze as all you need to do is call your cable company and give them the MAC address so they can add it to your account and will receive the internet signal. The router is pretty easy. Just follow the setup guide provided and you should be in business.

Told to upgrade modem with Cox.
Do I need to or should I purchase a modem/router unit or just the new 3.0 modem and continue to use my current router?

IMHO, I would just get the modem version and invest in a dual band router that broadcasts simultaneously so you can run at both 2.4 or 5ghz. This gives you a better option than the combo modem/router
