connected to mac book and immediately loaded up and asked if I wanted to use time machine. Have used this for about 3 weeks almost daily with no problems.

Brought it home, hooked it up to the mac book retina and wonderful color at maximum HD resolution. So far so good. Apple users should be aware that HP does not support the use of Apple products and the software that comes with the monitor is only compatible with windows. I almost returned it but saw so many satisfied Apple users that I kept it. the menus are all available from the front buttons. I have the black plastic model which blends in well with my office space, there is a aluminum looking model available from HP.
I would recommend this to a friend!
