I have a number of SONOS products with the addition of the soundbar being my latest. My pervious add-on sound for my Sony 65-inch TV while OK was playing havoc with the cable connection. With the soundbar and addition of the SONOS sub I have equally good if not better sound and a much easier to use system. The additional benefit is also having SONOS in the bedroom where this TV is located to all recieve other content available with the SONOS system.

I have one of the original 5 speakers and one 3 speaker -love it! I am buying a new Sony T^V 55" and want to buy the Sonos soundbar and run it thru the TV for good sound-will the sound bar be able to pair with my 5 and 3 speakers?
You can pair with the sound bar for surround sound but not with a mismatched set ( Play5 and a Play3). I suggest you buy an additional Play3 you don't need a Play5 for surround sound. Better yet buy two Play1's for the surround sound function and use your Play5 and Play 3 for non TV sound. You can connect then for multi-room SOUNOS sound if you like that will work. Just don't use them as part of your TV sound system.

What is soundbar measurements/dimensions? And, can it be placed verticle on the floor adjacent to TV? If so, is their a floor mount?
You can get dimensions from product description and specs either at BestBuy or at SONOS directly. NO YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO MOUNT IT VERTICLE unless you mean vertical face versus horizontal face in the HORIZONTAL POSITION that will work. I do not now of a floor mount but I have mine on a shelf just below and directly centered under the TV. You want it as close to and centered under the TV as possible whether on a table shelf or wall mounted. I WOUKLD NOT SETIT ON THE FLOOR!

TV doesn't have an optical audio out but my BluRay player and Xfinity X1 cable box do. I've seen optical audio cable splitters on Amazon for $10. Will I lose any signal quality or content by using a $10 optical audio cable splitter. What should I use??

I have a SONOS sound bar and small speakers for one room. I would like to have it also on TV down stairs and music in other rooms. Do I need to buy another sound bar for the down stairs TV? How do I get this done.?
Yes you will need at minimum another soundbar for that TV. In addition if you want 3.1 sound you will need to add the sub. Also, if 5.1 surround sound is desired one needs the soundbar, sub and back channel speakers. I purchased the Play1's, they are more than adequate for this function. Hook up is very easy and solid (THIS IS BIG FEATRE OF SONOS PRODUCTS). Everything links and connects easily. The only issue might be if you have a week or spotty wireless internet connection in which case you should also add a SONOS bridge to increase wireless performance to the SONOS components.
