We have a 2300 square foot, two story home and the device does not provide complete coverage on a consistent basis. In fact, we had to create a central site for the modem/ router by running a line to an upstairs central room in order to cover the entire house.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

With ink jets in the ink cartridges this printer allows the user to not use the device for long periods of time without worrying about the jets clogging with dry ink and rendering the device useless. We winter in the South and the printer sits dormant for 5 months.
The set up was very easy the quality of print and photo is good.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Does this have a very strong wireless signal?

Can it transmit a good wireless signal for gaming, tablets, etc if placed discreetly in a closet, or should I get a router as well?
No. In our 2300 square foot two story it did not consistently cover the entire home when placed in one end of the first story.
