This was my first prime lens purchase. Using on a Nikon d5200 crop sensor . Great lens for the price . Best sharpness at around 2.5f to about 7f. Great broken for portraits too. Most of my photography is landscapes and nature. Not as wide of a lens as I would like for landscape work but you can't go wrong with this for most everything else.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have a Nikon 3200: I'd like to take portrait shots of my high school senior, Is it worth getting a Nikon 50mm/f1.8G for recreational use if I already have a Nikon 18-55mm/f1.35-5.6G and Nikon 55-200mm/1.4-5.6? thank you.

If you haven't done it already you will definitely like this lens for portraits. Just did a set of senior portraits and couldn't be happier with the results.

D7200 nikon camera. 70-200-2.8 nikor lense. Settings are as follows: AF-C D9 - Center weighted focus - Auto ISO Settings are: 200 ISO Minimum-1250 ISO Max-Min. Shutter Speed at 1250. Camera set on Aperature Priority of 5. Suuny Day-All were under exposed.

Reading through your settings my guess would be center weighted metering caused the under exposure on a sunny day. Matrix metering would get you better results I believe. Noticed the same thing on mine in full sunlight and harsh shadows//light. Also in full daylight I use iso 100 and a little exposure compensation. I also shoot in full manual .

This will fit my nikon d5500, but should I get the 35mm to be equivalent to the 50mm?

Depending on what you are using it for. Bought his lens a month ago and love it. This does put you more around the 75mm range though.
