I purchased a pair of these for my MacBook Pro. They were already formatted for Mac. I use Apple Time-Machine (TM). TM alternates between the two drives (automatically) on each backup. If for any reason I need to rebuild or restore the Mac internal drive (in my case it's a SSD), and the unthinkable happens such as a drive failure on one of Seagate's', no worries, the other will work!!!

Well, I still had to contact Comcast to give them the MAC Address, but there were no other settings to mess with. All my computers came to life and I returned Comcast cable-modem. I also took my existing Lynksys router and connected it as an extended antenna to Arris... it's a sweet setup.

Home made Blu-Ray discs (BD-R) will not play. There are numerous postings regarding this problem, but no fixes. Store bought BR movies play fine, all DVD's play fine and the games work great. This BD-R problem has existed long enough for it to have been fixed.

Internal Battery Fail after 2 weeks

I bought this to replace a 5 year old APC xs 1500 that had begun to fail, where I did not lose house current, but the darn battery shut down several times. Up until the recent failures it had served me well. Okay, old age, so I went to BB and purchased this unit. After two weeks its alarm went off and displayed “X” referring to the to battery. To its credit, all my computer equipment kept running. I do video editing as part of my business and if you are aware of the long render process, keeping the power on is important! A few hours after the alarm I powered it all down and restarted and it. It has been about 4 weeks now and it has not failed since. I bought this APC to assure myself that I’d have uninterrupted power. I don’t trust it.

Are hard drives easy to install on your own?
It can be done as a DIY. Wander thru YouTube and find your computer and you'll find many examples of what is needed... or go to your nearest middle school and there'll be a youngster that can do it in exchange for some pizza and soda (LOL). It is easy, view the tutorials and have the necessary tools standing by. -AND- While you have it opened, use a can of air and clean that nasty dust out of it.

No. If your power is out and your network is on battery backup, you will not know. If you loose your network during the power outage your phone app will not connect.
