when being used as a media server will the second AC-2400 still act as a range extender?

I'm contemplating getting a second one to use as a media server to consolodate the music and digital movies i've bought over the years so i can watch them throughout the house. But there are some points on one side of the house where the signal gets weak and unreliable weather i'm using the 2.4 or the 5ghz frequency so i was wondering if having the 2nd AC-2400 in media server mode would still allow it to act as a range extender or if it would have to remain close to to first router to act as the media server.

I have not used the media server function of the Router and I use only one unit. But my guess will be that it would. You can buy it and try it out. If it does not meet your need, you can return it to the store withing the specified period.
