When it arrived the total set up time was 15 minutes. About 2 minutes to hook up; and then it took about 13 minutes to connect and download some updates. I have Netflix and Amazon Prime; both were super simple to access, voice command is flawless, picture quality is amazing. Easy to pause, come back to, fast forward and rewind work perfect. I have only positive things to say and have already recommended to two people who have bought their own after trying mine.

do you have to wait hours for the movie to download?

We have an apple tv. Bought movies for our granddaughters to watch. The movies are actually taking 24 hours to download. Needless to say, they can't watch the movies and I'm out several $$ for movies I rented and won't watch.
There has been no download time, after selecting it starts with no interruptions within a few seconds.
