What's great about it: Easy network setup, fast, extra features
What's not so great: Nothing so far!
Setup-
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this printer! The only thing it doesn't do that my big copier/printer at work does is staple. I have a desktop PC on windows 7 and a new convertible laptop that runs on Windows 8. The laptop has no CD drive, so I was worried about installing a printer without it. I have not really used my home network between the two computers much and I have never really messed with sharing printers between computers that way since I just recently got the laptop. But, I can say that setup was easy on both machines. The printer itself will run through some set up items on the touch screen, including network connection setup. It was a breeze. You don't need the USB cable if you choose to set it up to your wireless network. I used the CD to install software on my desktop pc. I went to HP.com and selected to download installations and drivers (I think that's what it said) and chose my printer and operating system to install the software on my PC. The whole setup process took maybe 15 minutes.
Features-
I like the eprint feature. Part of the setup process involves choosing if you want to use eprint. You can set up an email address through the HP website in which you can then send emails to that address, and it will print automatically.
I downloaded the eprint app to my android phone and even printed from my phone!
I have no fax set up and no need for faxing, so I can't comment on that.
I love that it has a top loading tray. You can both scan and copy from it! This is helpful for multiple page documents. You don't need the computer to scan, like many other printers that require you to open a software program to scan. You choose your options from the touch screen. You can scan photos or documents and can choose how and where to save them. You can scan photos and save them as jPEG or TIFF and documents can be scanned as PDF or TIF. The only complaint about this is that you cannot choose a file name or specific location to save to. You can choose which computer on the network to save to, but it automatically puts it in my documents (or my photos for a photo, I assume. I haven't scanned photos yet.)
I LOVE the top loading tray. You cannot scan double sided documents from it though. There's no option for that. You can open the lid and scan them that way. It asks you if you are done or have more to scan to the same file after each page is scanned.
You have more options to copy double sided. In the settings on the printer you can choose 1 sided to 1 sided, 1 sided to 2 sided (loading two single sheets and having them come out as one), and 2 sided to 1 sided (having 2 sided sheet come out as 2 separate pages).
The screen goes to sleep, so that saves some energy. But, I leave it on all the time so I can print anytime.
Photo print is gorgeous! It has a special try below the main tray for smaller photo paper. IT does have to have time to let the ink dry though.
Print speed is pretty quick. I printed 25 copies in just a minute or so. Double sided does take a littte longer as it has to suck the paper back in to print on the other side.
Paper tray is inside the machine and out of the way.
Small footprint.
Highly recommend!!!!
I would recommend this to a friend!
I use it for:Document printing

Will this printer do envelopes?

I haven't done it, but does show where to load envelopes on the paper try. SO, I'd say yes!
