Roku is a great streaming mechanism. It allows you to play free streams, log on to your accounts you already have (HBO, etc), join other pay-for sites, and lastly (and sometimes most importantly) play your personally owned files. This is where the drawback lies. It only plays MP4. It cannot play AVI, DIVX, and others. The video comes thru lacking the audio. Suggestion = roku should incorporate a player like VLC, or other multi format players.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Large capacity in a small package! I like everything about it. Portability, ease of use, compatibility....all very good.

Can you use roku if you have an older model TV

I have a older model TV with the white, red and yellow plugs connections; can I still connect the roku to this type of RCA floor model TV?
Roku 3 only has HDMI output. You would need a converter to separate the audio and video elements.

FALLING

I bought it in january 2014. My WD fall down, and now I cant get access to the data, what can I do? I live in Argentina! Thanks for your help! This is the product I bought: WD - My Passport Ultra external disc USB 30 de 2 TB - black - WDBMWV0020BBKNESN
It is recoverable. Same thing happened to a friend of mine. His dropped. He could not do anything to fix it, but when he took it to a computer expert, that person was able to recover about 90% of the data without fault. He had software to do that job. The recovered data had to be transferred to another passport HD.

Is it compatible with Windows XP?

Is it compatible with Windows XP?
Sorry not sure. I use VISTA and it works well with that. Also worked on Windows 7.
